I ordered from the company, not Best buy, and received it within 5 calendar days. I live in Los Angeles county, so this could explain the quick shipping. So far, I love the case. It does everything that I thought it would as far as protecting the phone.
I have taken the phone and case underwater in a pool (after testing the case by itself) and the phone took some great pictures and video footage. The case seemed to keep the water out, but I noticed a little moisture had entered the case (water vapor?). I don't believe that water had seeped in, because the phone was dry. It could be caused by what little air was inside the case with the phone being cooled by the temperature of the pool water. The case didn't fog up, there just seems to be a little moisture between the screen and the screen cover resulting in a subtle rainbow effect.
Regarding taking pictures underwater: buy this case knowing that you will have to install an app so that you can use the volume button as the shutter button. You cannot use the screen to engage the phone's camera shutter. because the touch screen will become unresponsive when you submerge the phone. The app that I am using is VolShutter and it works for the still photos. To engage the video camera, I just use the original app that came with the phone and turn the video camera on before I get the screen wet. Picture quality underwater was excellent (sunny day) and some pictures were in focus and some were out of focus. I have not had the case long enough to play with the VolShutter focus options.
I did a lot of assuming (you know what they say about assuming) regarding what accessories would be immediately available for this case: there are no current accessories. There are currently no armbands, head phone adapters, nada, zip. The headphone adapters for the iphone cases do not work with the s3 case because it appears that the iphone case seems to be threaded for the headphone adapter and the case for the s3 is not. I have to, again, assume this because there is no literature found regarding this, just my zooming in on the picture of the adapter. Also, I have sent two messages to the company on their website regarding this and have not received any response. I would think that they are swamped since they just started selling this product.
The case's portal for charging is constructed such that you will not be able to use all of the available power cables to charge the phone while the case is on the phone. Some of the cables are slimmer than others, and even these slim cables need to be coaxed into plugging into the phone. I am going to use a file (nail file or such)to customize the power cables so that I don't unwittingly enlarge the charging portal for the case, rendering the case non-water proof. Don't worry Lifeproof, this will void the cable, not your product. I don't want to take the case off of the phone each time I charge the phone because I don't want to wear down the O-ring that comes with it.
I am a little worried about constantly taking this product, with my phone inside, submerged in the water for photos, etc. because of a lot of problems that customers have posted on the facebook page. So far, I have not had any problems, but I have only had the case for a few days. Keep in mind that the company warranties their product for a year and not your phone. You may be able to purchase additional protection, I am not sure though.
As of now, I am happy with my case. Like I mentioned in the beginning, it does protect my phone as advertised.I wish that I would have done more research regarding the availability of accessories, though. This review was long winded, but I hope it gives a little more insight as to what type of product you are looking to purchase. I do hope that Lifeproof makes the accessories available soon. Lifeproof, thank you for delivering this product.
