For protection purposes, this case is amazing. I love that you are able to touch the screen directly while the phone still stays waterproof. I signed up for the water protection program, but I'm confident I won't ever have to use it.
I list the down sides first before going in to detail:
-The person on the other end of the phone can barely hear you, resulting in you almost YELLING just to have a conversation.
-Charging port is extremely difficult to open.
-THE BIGGEST ISSUE: I'm now on my 3rd Lifeproof case in just 7 months because the case above and below the home button started cracking on the last two.
The drawbacks explained.... When I'm talking to someone on the phone, I almost have to YELL in order for them to hear me. This is extremely irritating, because I don't usually want everyone around me being able to hear my conversation, probably as much as they don't want to hear it either.
Another... The cover over the charging port is extremely difficult to open. I know this part seems petty, but if you have your nails done, don't expect it to stay perfect. I've ruined my thumb nails multiple times because you have to dig it in and then pull down in order for it to open.
My BIGGEST issue is with the material around the home button. I bought my first Lifeproof case at the end of June 2014. A few months later I had to get a warranty replacement because the thin, hard piece above the home button had completely cracked through. I have now just received my second warranty replacement (so my third case so far), because the second case started getting the same crack above the home button, and ALSO below the home button! Let me note that I RARELY drop my phone... maybe twice since I purchased the first case last June, and it's never been on a hard surface, only carpeting.
As long as Lifeproof keeps replacing the case, I guess it's fine because I love the case and it provides so much protection. I'm just extremely annoyed that I spent $100 on a case and it keeps cracking without being dropped. And since there is a time spam on the warranty replacements, eventually I won't be able to get it replaced and I will just have to be stuck with a broken case, because I will NOT spend another $100 on a case that's just going to keep cracking.
