I live in Kathmandu, Nepal and go mountain biking several times a week. The trails I ride are mostly tracks leading from one village to the next around the rim of the valley... there are infinite possibilities for which way to go - but some are certainly better than others! The city itself is a complete maze with snarled main roads (none of which have names) and tiny back alleys that don't appear on paper maps. This is where the LIfeProof Bike & Bar mount comes in! My iPhone (well protected in its LifeProof case from sudden monsoon downpours, thick clouds of dust and the occasional crash on the rocks or in the mud) sits unobtrusively on my handlebars and tracks where I've been and leads me to where I'm going. The mount fits very snugly on the bar, and the easy to adjust dial to change the angle of the mount is also quite secure. I crashed yesterday on a gnarly single-track decent and the mount barely moved - just enough to cushion some of the impact. Some of the trails are quite jarring and the locking mechanism works like a charm to keep the phone from rattling out. on the other hand, it is very easy to unlock and pop the phone out when I want to take a photo of a spectacular view or a friend barreling down the trail behind me.
The only downside is that while the mount does have a hole for the camera so you could presumably film while riding (a la "GoPro") a combination of the case, the iPhone sensors for video, and the aforementioned bumpy roads make the resulting clips somewhat distorted, so I don't really bother with this. it would probably work fine for videoing on a smooth surface though.
All in all I'm very happy with this mount and the whole lifeproof system!
