How do I maintain the O-ring seal to my LifeProof?

O-ring maintenance is critical; it is the O-ring which is largely responsible for keeping your LifeProof case waterproof. If the O-ring is damaged it could allow water to seep through. It is especially important to ensure that the O-ring is cleaned regularly if you plan to take your LifeProof'd iPhone underwater for any significant length of time. When inspecting your O-ring, check for lint, hair, dirt, sand, or muck as well as damage to the O-ring itself, as any of these things will cause the case to leak.

If you are planning to take your LifeProof'd iPhone underwater, we suggest using a small amount of petroleum jelly to coat the O-ring. The best way to do this is to put the petroleum jelly on your thumb and first two fingers and run the O-ring between your thumb and fingers before reinserting it back into the case.

Do NOT use silicone grease. This can prevent the O-ring from functioning properly, allowing water into the case.
