LifeProof iPhone Case Awarded “Gear of the Year” by National Geographic Adventure Journal
SAN DIEGO — November 5, 2012 — Twice a year, National Geographic Adventure rounds up the most innovative outdoor gear, apparel and technology must-have gear of the season. For winter 2012-2013, the LifeProof case for the iPhone 4/4S was one of only 24 products and the only iPhone case selected as Gear of the Year. The LifeProof case is water proof down to 6.6 feet, dust proof, snow proof and shock proof and is the only such iPhone case on the market in a slim design that lets users take advantage of every innovative feature of the phone.
“Putting your precious camera/GPS/fitness coach into the brine takes a leap of faith, but LifeProof water tests every case before it leaves the factory (and you should verify at home, too),” wrote west coast National Geographic Journal editor, Steve Casimiro. “Phone controls are easy to use through the plastic screen, and you can even make speaker calls through it without sounding muffled. The case isn’t much bigger than the phone itself, so you can slip it into a pocket, unless you’re on the water, in which case LifeProof’s big foam bumper ($40) is recommended—so it will float if dropped overboard.”
Gary Rayner, CEO of LifeProof, stated: “We are delighted to be recognized by National Geographic. LifeProof is more than just an accessory. It is a technical piece of equipment to both protect and enable users to stay connected while capturing the outdoor experience, taking pictures or shooting video, even underwater, listening to music while enjoying a sport or outdoor activity or simply everyday use.”
