LifeProof In the News
Mommy Loves Coffee, January 09, 2013
We have dropped two phones in water, cracked the screen on another and lost another for three months. I’m over the costly damages. Ultimately, it got to the point where I wasn’t allowing my kids to touch my iPhone anymore – and my husband was getting mad at me for denying them the privilege as he was still allowing it.
One of my New Year’s Resolutions for 2013 is to (continue to) instill a sense of pride in my children when it comes to being responsible and taking care of our possessions and ourselves. I’ve quickly figured out that the stereotype does hold some truth and that my boys need some additional guidance when it comes to this life lesson.
And that’s when my love fest for LifeProof began… Because that resolution alone is not exactly realistic – with a clumsy mom (like myself), a forgetful dad and four active boys.

While getting ready for the CES show in Las Vegas, I came across LifeProof®, www.lifeproof.com as what I really wanted was an all season, all weather, iPhone case. When you look at the packaging that it comes in, you will see their seven reasons to choose the LifeProof® case and two of them peaked my interest; the ultra slim design and that it was fully sealed and waterproof. What does the trick is the polycarbonate frame, a shock absorbing cover, and waterproof and dirt proof seals on the case for all the external buttons.

Waterproof cases for iOS devices are all the rage at CES 2013. And one the pioneers in the field, LifeProof, is showing off real-world uses for its products at the show.
The company’s booth was divided into six zones – education, first responders, kitchen, winter sports, outdoor/biking and medical/professional – to show how its products can be used.
Dom Esposito stopped at LifeProof’s booth at CES to hear a little history behind the company and to take a look at some of LifeProof’s offerings.

Water proof, snow proof, dirt proof and shock proof. That’s what they say about the case made to protect iPhones from all kinds of weather and travel conditions: Lifeproof. Lifeproof really is, well, lifeproof.

Did you get a new iPad for Christmas? Have you thought about a case for it?
FOX 5's Doug Evans gives the yearly warning to all who will listen to put on a protective case because those who don't heed the warning will likely hear it from the folks at the iHospital in Atlanta after there has been an issue.

My first inclination upon receiving a Lifeproof Case (they sent me the tactical FDE version for the 4S, so I looked cooler than everyone else) was to look upon all their claims with an extreme sense of skepticism. Water- and dustproof my iPhone? Put it in a bright orange liferaft and turn it loose on the water? I’m not one of those guys who absolutely can’t live with his phone (Gollum) but I do like having it close and functioning.

The nüüd case from LifeProof offers something no other rugged case does. Of course it's rugged, but it is also waterproof... So far, so good. But LifeProof does something no other case maker has tried. The achieve waterproof protection yet leave the glass screen exposed! The dock and the audio jack are sealed and protected, of course.

Our iPhones now regularly come on bike rides, trail runs, and hikes to track GPS data, distance, and speed, take Instagrams, view maps, and stay in touch. We keep the phones in LifeProof cases, which offer a slim, solid shield from rain, dust, snow, and anything else nature puts in their way. Without a LifeProof case, phones simply would have to stay home more often when we head outdoors.

Some prefer to take it out in public naked. I seldom do, but sometimes I'm tempted to let it all out...my iPhone that is. Out of its case, of course. What were you thinking?
I have been a LifeProof user since the iPhone 4S, and it was a pretty good case for the type of protection I got in return. So, getting the LifeProof Frē for iPhone 5 seemed like a no brainer. I'm not one of those extreme thrill seekers to whom the case is advertised for. I'm more of the dropping the phone on the sidewalk while trying to scoop up the pooches' excrement type of guy or the dropping the phone in a bowl of cereal while totally fixated by the back of the box kind of person. But I digress. You're here to find out how the LifeProof Frē performs, so read on and we'll tell you if it's good enough to protect your iPhone 5.

Although we normally hold our final opinions on a new accessory for our full reviews, LifeProof's Fre ($80 merits this initial tease: this is the thinnest properly-tailored waterproof case we've ever seen for an iPhone -- so interestingly assembled that we could see people using it as an everyday case without even thinking twice. Made from two interlocking layers, each with different types of opaque and transparent plastic inside, Fre easily comes together to form a completely protective case that shields against snow, dirt, shocks, and two meters of water submersion.

If your nervous system can survive giving your iPhone a voluntary trip into the drink, then you can get some underwater shots by using the LifeProof Case for the iPhone 4/4S. It adds little bulk, keeps out water to a depth of six feet, and preserves all of the iPhone's functionality.
Waterproof cases have had mixed reception, but they've started coming into form since the iPhone 4S's camera debuted and supplanted point-and-shoot cameras. Of those available, the LifeProof has received the most recognition and praise.

a clever case that seals the iPad around the perimeter and the back while allowing the front glass to remain exposed...

I was so excited when I got my first iPhone, I had a couple of Android phones prior and while they were okay I’ve been so much happier with my iPhone. iPhones aren’t cheap and I wanted to take every precaution possible when choosing the case for my phone and had the wonderful opportunity to put the LifeProof iPhone case to the test. LifeProof iPhone and iPad cases are waterproof, dust-proof and shock-proof all in a sleek low profile case that doesn’t make your phone awkward and bulky.

It was just close to 2 months ago that Apple unveiled and released their highly anticipated successor to the iPhone 4S, the iPhone 5, and LifeProof has followed suit with their launch of the LifeProof Frē case for the iPhone 5. Much like the LifeProof cases made for the iPhone 4/4S LifeProof states the Frē follows their four proofs of protection by offering a Water Proof, Dirt Proof, Snow Proof, and Shock Proof case for the iPhone 5.

Avoid putting the accident coverage included in your Apple Care plan to the test: Get an ultra-rugged case if you’re worried about major drops and bumps. The LifeProof team claims that the Nuud Case and Cover/Stand bundle will protect your iPad from water, snow, ice, dirt, and impacts.

If you do decide to pick up a pricey $600+ LTE-capable iPad, you might be looking for all the protection you can get for your new gadget. In that case (pun intended), LifeProof has you covered.
LifeProof is pitching some heavy duty protection from the elements with its line of iPhone and iPad cases. LifeProof's iPad cases are submersible up to 6 feet, designed to withstand drops from 4 feet and totally sealed from dirt and dust particles to the IP-68 rating. They're also enclosed to keep out all melting snow and ice to the IP-68 rating.

I noticed right away how slim the Lifeproof Fre iPhone 5 case (available for Apple gadgets only) is compared to the Otterbox, but perhaps size doesn't matter in this case, as it does provide complete, sealed protection against everything from dirt to snow and yes water. That means if you (or your kid) accidentally drop it in a tub, you're safe.
Gadget Review, December 12, 2012
For those who really want to ensure maximum protection, the LifeProof fre Case is waterproof, dirt proof, snow proof and shock proof that lets you take your phone on any adventure you go on for $80.

Christmas Gadget Guide: Under £100
Not as flashy, but incredibly useless nonetheless, the Lifeproof iPhone case protects your smartphone from water damage, fall damage; dirt, snow, electric shocks; pretty much everything, it seems, with the website promising to make your phone "virtually bombproof."

LifeProof Nuud iPad case review
The LifeProof Nüüd Case and Cover/Stand Bundle offers serious protection for the iPad 2, as well as third- and fourth-generation iPads. The LifeProof team claims that this £80 bundle will protect your iPad from water, snow, ice, dirt, and impacts.

As parents we know all too well that stuff happens. Drinks are spilled, things are dropped (or thrown) and messes of unknown entities are made. For the most part we can just laugh off these events, but when all this stuff is happening to your brand new iPhone…the laughter stops!
Men’s Journal, December 07, 2012
If you take your phone anywhere interesting, it should be sheathed in the LifeProof iPhone Case. The military-grade shell is shock-, dust-, and waterproof without adding unnecessary bulk. During our journeys, it defended iPhones from several dunks in the ocean and drops from rocks – and allowed us to take great underwater video, too.
Network World, December 05, 2012
If your lifestyle is rather more rugged than mine, you may need this iPad case. It's called the LifeProof Nüüd and, yes, the company has cornered the umlaut market (digression: why isn't umlaut spelled "ümlaüt"?).

...become downright dependent on our smartphones. I mean, many of us wouldn't even be able to function without them at all, so it's stands to reason you'd want to protect it from damage as much as you can. >> Absolutely. well, now one company claims their carrying case will make your cell phone lifeproof. So, of course, we tested it. Take a look.
